HUPLONG INDUSTRIES (M) SDN BHD is the authorized distributor of NORRES industrial hoses in Malaysia.

HUPLONG supplies genuine NORRES hoses for plastics-industry applications to customers throughout Malaysia. The current range includes abrasion-resistant conveying hoses, antistatic polyurethane hoses, high-temperature dryer hoses, cooling-air hoses, cooling-water hoses and pressure hoses for suitable plastics-processing systems.

Conveying Hoses for the Plastics Industry

Plastics-Industry Applications

NORRES presents hoses for conveying granules, pellets, powders, bulk materials, gases and suitable liquids in the plastics industry. Depending on the selected hose model, applications may include dosing systems, vacuum conveying systems, granulate conveying equipment, extruders, shredders, mills, injection moulding machines, plastic dryers, granulate dryers and blown-film extrusion systems.

Plastics-processing applications have different requirements. Hose selection must be based on the conveyed material, level of abrasion, required internal diameter, throughput, operating pressure, vacuum, temperature, flexibility, electrical properties and installation conditions.

Plastic Granule Pellet and Powder Conveying

Abrasion resistance is important when plastic granules, pellets and powders repeatedly contact the hose wall. NORRES offers medium-heavy, heavy, super-heavy and extremely heavy hose constructions for different conveying loads.

AIRDUC® PUR 355 AS (HD) is a heavy-duty and highly abrasion-resistant polyurethane hose with increased pressure and vacuum resistance. AIRDUC® PUR 356 AS (XHD) is a super-heavy hose with reinforced primary abrasion areas and very high resistance to abrasion, pressure, vacuum and compression.

AIRDUC® PUR 356 FOOD REINFORCED (XXHD) provides an extremely heavy construction for high-throughput conveying of extremely abrasive bulk material, granulate and other suitable materials. Its official product page identifies food-contact approvals but does not identify the hose as an AS antistatic model.

NORPLAST® PUR 385 AS GRANUFLEX has a smooth polyurethane inner tube and a grounding wire. NORRES identifies it for granulate, powder and bulk-material applications. Its exact electrical properties and grounding requirements must be confirmed from the current technical documentation before use in an electrostatic or explosion-hazard application.

3560 SILOCORD®/ALIM is an abrasion-resistant pressure hose for suitable materials including PVC granules. It has two copper stranded wires, which NORRES states must both be connected during assembly.

Granulate Conveyors Extruders and Injection Moulding Machines

NORRES identifies AIRDUC® PUR 355 AS (HD), AIRDUC® PUR 356 AS (XHD), AIRDUC® PUR 355 HT (HD), AIRDUC® PUR 356 HT (XHD) and BARDUC® PVC 381 FOOD (HD) for suitable plastics-industry systems such as granulate conveying equipment, vacuum hoppers, suction conveyors, dosing systems, shredders, mills, extruders and injection moulding machines.

These hoses are not interchangeable. The AS models are intended for applications requiring the stated permanent antistatic hose-wall properties. The HT models provide increased temperature resistance, while BARDUC® PVC 381 FOOD (HD) uses a heavy smooth PVC construction with high pressure, vacuum and compression resistance.

Plastic Dryers and Hot-Air Dryers

For granulate dryers, plastic dryers and hot-air dryers, NORRES lists several hose constructions with higher temperature capabilities:

  • PROTAPE® TPE 320 (XLD)
  • PROTAPE® TPE 321 REINFORCED (LD)
  • AIRDUC® TPE 363 (MD)
  • NEO 390 ONE
  • NEO 390 TWO
  • SIL 391 ONE
  • SIL 391 TWO

These hoses have different wall materials, reinforcement systems, temperature limits, pressure resistance and flexibility. Selection must be based on the actual continuous air temperature and not only on the short-term maximum temperature.

Film-Blowing and Extrusion Cooling Air

NORRES identifies AIRDUC® PUR 351 HT (MD) and AIRDUC® PUR 355 HT (HD) for suitable cooling-air applications on film-blowing machines and extrusion tools. These hoses use NORRES high-temperature polyurethane and are also abrasion resistant.

PROTAPE® TPE 320 (XLD), PROTAPE® TPE 321 REINFORCED (LD), AIRDUC® TPE 363 (MD), NEO 390 ONE, NEO 390 TWO, SIL 391 ONE and SIL 391 TWO are also identified for suitable film-blowing or extrusion-tool cooling-air applications on their individual product pages.

CP Kapton® 476 provides a much higher temperature capability for suitable hot-gas and high-temperature extraction systems. It must not be selected only because it has the highest temperature rating; its clamp-profile construction, chemical resistance, pressure conditions and installation requirements must also be considered.

Injection Moulding Tool Cooling and Water Supply

NORFLEX® PUR 441 FOOD and NORFLEX® PUR 441 ROBOTIC are fabric-reinforced polyurethane pressure hoses identified for injection moulding tool cooling and cooling-water supply.

NORFLEX® PUR 441 FOOD is highly flexible, abrasion resistant, crush resistant, microbe resistant and hydrolysis resistant. NORFLEX® PUR 441 ROBOTIC is intended for moving industrial systems and robot dresspacks as well as suitable cooling-water, compressed-air and media-transfer applications.

3126 CALORFORM is an EPDM water hose suitable for salt water and hot water. It is pressure resistant, flexible, kink resistant, UV resistant and ozone resistant. The exact suitability for a plastics-processing cooling system must be confirmed according to the water conditions, temperature and required operating pressure.

Abrasion Resistance and Flow-Optimised Hose Selection

NORRES advises customers conveying abrasive plastic granules to select products identified with the abrasion-resistant property. The required duty level should be matched to the abrasiveness of the material, conveying speed, throughput, hose routing and operating pressure or vacuum.

NORRES identifies products carrying the smooth-interior property as particularly flow optimised. A smooth inner surface can reduce material accumulation and flow resistance, but it does not remove the need to select the correct wall thickness and hose construction.

Antistatic Properties and Explosion Protection

Electrostatic charging may occur when plastic pellets, granules, powders or liquids move through a chargeable hose. Where combustible material or dust is present, an uncontrolled electrostatic discharge may create an ignition or explosion risk.

AIRDUC® PUR 355 AS (HD) and AIRDUC® PUR 356 AS (XHD) have permanently antistatic hose walls in accordance with ISO 8031, with electrical and surface resistance below 109 ohms. NORRES also states resistance below 2.5 × 108 ohm-metres in accordance with TRGS 727 for these models.

NORRES identifies these AIRDUC® AS models for the stated ATEX 2014/34/EU and TRGS 727 applications. Suitability still depends on the dust or material, hazardous-zone classification, conveying method and professional installation and earthing of the complete system.

Some other products in the range use a copper stranded wire or grounding wire. A grounding wire must not automatically be treated as confirmation that the complete hose has the same permanent antistatic wall resistance or ATEX suitability as an AIRDUC® AS hose. The current technical documentation for the exact model must be checked.

Temperature Ranges for Plastics Processing

NORRES states the following operating and short-term temperature ranges for selected hoses in the current plastics-industry range:

  • AIRDUC® PUR 355 AS (HD): −40°C to 90°C with short-term exposure up to 125°C
  • AIRDUC® PUR 356 AS (XHD): −40°C to 90°C with short-term exposure up to 125°C
  • AIRDUC® PUR 356 FOOD REINFORCED (XXHD): −40°C to 90°C with short-term exposure up to 125°C

  • AIRDUC® PUR 356 HT (XHD): −40°C to 125°C with short-term exposure up to 150°C
  • NEO 390 ONE and NEO 390 TWO: −35°C to 135°C with short-term exposure up to 150°C
  • SIL 391 ONE and SIL 391 TWO: −70°C to 260°C with short-term exposure up to 280°C
  • 3126 CALORFORM: −40°C to 95°C with short-term exposure up to 110°C
  • CP Kapton® 476: −60°C to 400°C

A short-term temperature limit must not be treated as the permissible continuous operating temperature. Airflow, radiant heat, material temperature, pressure, vacuum and the distance from the heat source must also be considered.

DIN EN 26057 Product Standard

The current NORRES product information identifies the following exact models according to DIN 26057:

  • Type 3: AIRDUC® PUR 355 AS (HD)
  • Type 3: AIRDUC® PUR 355 HT (HD)
  • Type 4: AIRDUC® PUR 356 AS (XHD)
  • Type 4: AIRDUC® PUR 356 HT (XHD)

These classifications apply only to the specifically identified models. They must not be extended to another duty level or hose model without confirmation from its current NORRES product information.

Flame-Retardant Properties

NORRES identifies AIRDUC® PUR 355 AS (HD) as flame-retardant according to DIN 4102-B1 and UL94-V2. NORRES also states that this model conforms to the safety regulations of the German Wood Trade.

These flame-retardant properties apply specifically to AIRDUC® PUR 355 AS (HD) and must not be assumed for every antistatic or polyurethane hose in the plastics-industry range.

Food-Contact Hose Options

Selected products in the plastics-industry range have food-contact approvals. These may be relevant where food-grade plastic granules, packaging materials or other controlled products are being processed.

Current food-related products in the displayed range include AIRDUC® PUR 356 FOOD REINFORCED (XXHD), 4480 ARMOFLEX®, BARDUC® PVC 381 FOOD (HD), NORPLAST® PUR 386 SCIROPPO® PU FOOD AS, NORPLAST® PVC 384 SCIROPPO® AS, NORFLEX® PUR 441 FOOD and 3560 SILOCORD®/ALIM.

Approvals and permitted media differ between these products. Food-contact suitability must therefore be verified from the current NORRES documentation for the exact model and must not be assumed for every hose listed on this page.

Current Website Information

The NORRES plastics-industry application text still refers to NORPLAST® PUR-C 386 AS (XHD), NORPLAST® PVC 384 AS (HD) and NORFLEX® PUR 401 FOOD. These exact names are not included in the current displayed product selection with confirmed individual product pages.

The current displayed products include NORPLAST® PUR 386 SCIROPPO® PU FOOD AS, NORPLAST® PVC 384 SCIROPPO® AS and NORFLEX® PUR 441 FOOD. These products must not automatically be described as direct replacements for the older names because NORRES does not state this on the application page.

AIRDUC® PUR 356 FOOD REINFORCED (XXHD) is mentioned as an antistatic hose in the application-page text. However, its current individual product page does not identify an antistatic wall or AS classification. It should therefore not be offered as an antistatic hose without separate written technical confirmation from NORRES.
