Exhaust Gas Hoses

Previous 2 / 9 Next

HUPLONG INDUSTRIES (M) SDN BHD is the authorized distributor of NORRES industrial hoses in Malaysia.

HUPLONG supplies genuine NORRES exhaust gas hoses and high-temperature hoses to customers throughout Malaysia. The range includes flexible hoses for suitable vehicle exhaust extraction systems, car workshops, engine test benches, exhaust gas measurement systems and industrial high-temperature extraction applications.

Exhaust Gas Hoses

Exhaust Gas Extraction Applications

NORRES exhaust gas hoses are designed to route exhaust gases from vehicles, engines and other equipment away from the operator and the working area. Depending on the selected hose model, typical applications include vehicle exhaust gas systems, car exhaust extraction, industrial workshops, engine test benches and exhaust gas measurement.

Suitable NORRES models may be used with hose reels, slotted floor channels, floor-grid extraction systems, underfloor extraction systems and other workshop exhaust extraction arrangements.

Selected CP and CP HiTex hoses can also be used for industrial high-temperature gas extraction involving ovens, foundries, furnaces, smelting processes, ceramic plants, glass plants, steel plants and aluminium mills, according to the applications stated for the individual product.

Important Hose Properties

Exhaust gases may reach temperatures of several hundred degrees Celsius. The hose must therefore be selected according to the actual exhaust gas temperature, airflow, fresh-air dilution, operating duration, hose diameter, extraction arrangement and mechanical conditions.

Flexibility and vibration resistance are important where the hose is exposed to movement, external impact or vibration. Depending on the model, NORRES exhaust gas hoses may offer high flexibility, compressibility, crush resistance, vibration resistance, external abrasion protection, insulation or suitability for slight overpressure.

PROTAPE® TPE 326 MEMORY is specifically identified as a crush-resistant exhaust gas hose. This can be advantageous in car workshops and floor-level installations where a hose may be compressed or driven over.

CP HYP 450 PROTECT and CP ARAMID 461 PROTECT have an external protection profile. NORRES identifies this external clamp profile as beneficial for protecting the hose in demanding workshop applications.

Exhaust Gas Temperature Selection

NORRES identifies the following temperature limits for the exhaust gas hoses included in its current product selection:

  • Up to 120°C: METAL HOSE 375
  • Up to 170°C: CP HYP 450
  • Up to 200°C: PROTAPE® TPE 326 MEMORY under the specified application conditions
  • Up to 200°C: CP HYP 450 PROTECT under the specified application conditions
  • Up to 300°C: CP ARAMID 461 and CP ARAMID 461 PROTECT
  • Up to 400°C: CP Kapton® 476
  • Up to 500°C: CP HiTex 487
  • Up to 550°C: CP HiTex 485
  • Up to 700°C: CP HiTex 481 and CP HiTex 486
  • Up to 1100°C: CP HiTex 483

For PROTAPE® TPE 326 MEMORY, CP HYP 450 PROTECT and CP ARAMID 461 PROTECT, NORRES states that the indicated maximum exhaust gas temperature requires correct use with exhaust gas funnels and a sufficient fresh-air supply of approximately 50%.

The highest temperature stated in a product name or application overview may represent a short-term or condition-dependent maximum. It must not automatically be treated as the continuous operating temperature.

Continuous and Short-Term Temperature Ranges

The current NORRES product information distinguishes between regular operating-temperature ranges and short-term maximum temperatures for several high-temperature hose models:

  • CP ARAMID 461: −60°C to 260°C with short-term exposure up to 300°C
  • CP HiTex 487: −60°C to 450°C with short-term exposure up to 500°C
  • CP HiTex 485: −60°C to 500°C with short-term exposure up to 550°C
  • CP HiTex 481: −60°C to 600°C with short-term exposure up to 700°C
  • CP HiTex 486: −60°C to 650°C with short-term exposure up to 700°C
  • CP HiTex 483: −60°C to 900°C with short-term exposure up to 1100°C

Customers should confirm whether the stated temperature is a continuous operating value, a short-term limit or a conditional exhaust gas temperature before selecting a hose.

Workshop and Vehicle Exhaust Extraction

For vehicle workshops, NORRES identifies hose reels, slotted floor channels, floor-grid systems and underfloor extraction systems as typical applications. Exhaust gas measurement and engine test bench installations are also included in the official application range.

PROTAPE® TPE 326 MEMORY provides crush resistance for applications where mechanical compression may occur. CP HYP 450 PROTECT and CP ARAMID 461 PROTECT provide an external protection profile for applications where the outer surface of the hose may be exposed to abrasion or workshop-floor contact.

The suitable hose depends on the exhaust gas temperature and installation conditions. The protect versions must not be selected only according to their external protection because their permissible temperatures and hose-wall materials are different.

Industrial High-Temperature Extraction

The NORRES CP range includes clamp-profile hoses for extracting hot and cold gases in industrial systems. Depending on the individual model, these hoses may be used with ovens, foundries, furnaces, smelting processes, ceramic plants, glass plants, steel plants and aluminium mills.

CP Kapton® 476 and the CP HiTex range cover progressively higher temperature requirements. These products have different wall constructions, insulation properties, pressure capabilities and operating-temperature ranges and are therefore not interchangeable solely on the basis of hose diameter.

Insulating Hoses for Slight Overpressure

NORRES identifies CP HiTex 485 and CP HiTex 486 as multi-layer insulating high-temperature hoses suitable for slight overpressure. This property is model-specific and must not be assumed for all hoses in the exhaust gas range.

Operating pressure, temperature, hose diameter and installation arrangement must be checked against the current NORRES technical data for the selected hose.

Flame-Retardant Standards

According to NORRES, the aramid hose walls of the following models correspond to fire class M1 under UNE 23.727-90:

  • CP ARAMID 461
  • CP ARAMID 461 PROTECT

NORRES identifies CP HiTex 481 as flame-retardant according to DIN 4102-B1.

These classifications apply only to the specifically identified hose models. They must not be extended to other NORRES exhaust gas hoses without confirmation from the current product documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are NORRES exhaust gas hoses used for?
